We hear it all the time; 

"Be sure to leave us a 5-star review!"

 

But what does that mean? Why does a 5-star review have such sought after status?

 

There are a few reasons why you should want to have 5-star reviews as a funeral home. Here's a quick list highlighting the ways that a 5-star review is beneficial to you:

 

1. Google Reviews increase trust in your company

Allowing customers to leave real and honest reviews, permits future customers and those who may require your services now, to get a real impression from others who have worked with you. It is not uncommon for families to first read your reviews when looking for a place to go. According to Podium.com, "88% of consumers have read reviews to determine the quality of local businesses." In the same article, "72% of consumers say positive reviews make them trust a local business more than they may have otherwise."

 

2. Google Reviews increase your local exposure

We have all heard the saying "Fate favors the fearless," but in the case of Google Reviews, "Google favors the highly rated." 

To explain a little, the algorithms in Google pull up the 'most-relevant' businesses in their fields (i.e.. Funeral industry, fast-food, etc.) based on their ratings. If you have a small number of reviews, it will be harder for prospective customers to find you based off of a simple Google search. The more reviews you have, the easier it will be to be found, thus boosting your exposure.

 

3. You will receive honest feedback in more ways

People are always willing to share more information, especially bad experiences, when they don't have to do it directly to the other persons face. If you stay on top of your reviews and actively patrol to see what people are saying, you will be able make the necessary changes to better serve all those who you come in contact with.

After customers have gone through your reviews and determined that you are a trustworthy provider of funeral care, they are more inclined to look at all you have to offer. Having a website that leaves behind good impressions and displays your service options in an attractive way is very important. Although a review is a great place to start in your attempts to grow your business, staying up-to-date on the other technological aspects of the funeral industry is important as well.
